Poverty Simulation Training
On August 16, 2022, ECTAC hosted a Poverty Simulation facilitated by Dee Dee Wright (Polk) and Sheila Rees (Volusia) in Melbourne Beach, Florida. On December 4 and 5, 2017, ECTAC partnered with the Missouri Community Action Network (MCAN) to provide the necessary training for teams to be approved to conduct the MCAN Poverty Simulation. "The Community Action Poverty Simulation breaks down stereotypes by allowing participants to step into the real life situations of others. Poverty is often portrayed as a stand alone issue - but this simulation allows individuals to walk a month in the shoes of someone who is facing poverty and realize how complex and interconnected issues of poverty really are.” (Missouri Community Action Network).
