Poverty Simulation Training
On December 4 and 5, 2017, ECTAC partnered with the Missouri Community Action Network (MCAN) to provide the necessary training for teams to be approved to conduct the MCAN Poverty Simulation. "The Community Action Poverty Simulation breaks down stereotypes by allowing participants to step into the real life situations of others. Poverty is often portrayed as a stand alone issue - but this simulation allows individuals to walk a month in the shoes of someone who is facing poverty and realize how complex and interconnected issues of poverty really are…..” (Missouri Community Action Network).

Simulation Kits
Participants will need to purchase the Poverty Simulation Kit prior to presenting a Poverty Simulation, but not before the training. Kits are $2500.00 plus shipping, and include everything necessary to conduct a simulation. It may be difficult for some districts to immediately purchase a kit because it was not included in their 2017-2018 project plans, therefore, ECTAC has purchased a kit for member districts to borrow until they have been able to arrange the purchase of their own kit. If you would like to purchase a kit, contact MCAN directly, or use this link.
